Showgirl Whirl

I realise I'm a whole week behind on my blog. I have no excuse other than being unreasonably busy and not having the time!

I've had a whole bunch of shows....

Oh... and this ** ...and this... poor Felixy Splits!

I was rather proud of my make-up this weekend!

Last weekend I also got to go on a much needed night out; taking in Tempest Rose's birthday party and Chrys Columbine's new show at the glorious Hippodrome Casino. I will admit to partaking a a couple of alcoholic libations and the next morning found some unexpected pictures on my phone... here is a random selection of images...

I was spoiled this week by getting to go and watch not one, but two amazing shows; on Tuesday I attended the London Cabaret Festival Fundraiser at the Bethnal Green Working Mens Club. It was a truly spectacular event - you know you're watching a good show when you think 'I have no idea what I'm watching right now but I'm thoroughly enjoying it!'

I've also been spending a lot of time at the ice rink and working on stuff for my Etsy store! So - busy busy busy!

Big Week - Little Blog

Another rather busy week here in Cabaret Land!

I've had another full week of shows, skating rehearsals, photoshoots and 'real-life' work so I'm enjoying having a lazy Sunday off while working on a gorgeous bespoke headband for a customer of my Etsy store.

Roses and Rhinestones

This week I had two shows at the gorgeous Privee of Knightsbridge and a double Saturday show at beautiful Volupte Lounge. I had a shoot with Zebrowski Photography and hopefully got some good shots in there, and also took a trip to Cellar Door to watch Felixy Splits and Jaz Delorian perform a fabulous show!

Busy Busy!

Just Add Coffee...

Well I have had a remarkably busy week!

For those of you who may not know, I have a little part-time job in Covent Garden and I have put in a *lot* of extra hours this week as I aim to invest a chunk of money in a new act and I'm shoring up my defences against the cost!

Alongside working a full-time week (which I am *not* cut out for!) I have also had a couple of shows, ice-skating rehearsals, site visits for forthcoming shows, and business meetings! Somewhere in all of this I also found the time to finally set up my Etsy Store, so I am definitely enjoying an afternoon off today before I start all over again tomorrow!

I do love it though, and I'm not complaining at all!

I did manage to find a little time out though to go for a coffee with one of my favourite burlesque ladies, the gorgeous Chrys Columbine. I'm so pleased for her as she now has her own, amazing show at The Hippodrome Casino, starting in September. I'm going to the opening night and I can't wait!

With ice-skating rehearsals for Burlesque On Ice ramping up, I went with the shows producer for a site-visit to the venue: the fabulous Bush Hall in Shepherds Bush! It's so beautiful! We had an exhausting day laying out stage and seating plans, working out capacity and pretending to ice-skate across the carpet! As you do... :P

Stage and Ice plan at Bush Hall

Also this week, I had a couple of shows: both at one of my favourite venues, Proud Cabaret, alongside two amazing line-ups!

Wednesday night is always a funny one as I never expect the audience to go wild so it's a pleasant surprise when they do - although it was probably helped by half of the cast of Burlesque On Ice being in the crowd! I loved the show and especially loved meeting the wonderful Missy Macabre properly at last.

Saturday was a typically raucous affair, buoyed by the audience being half stag parties which is an unusual occurrence! It was lovely to meet the host for the evening, Paul Roberts, as I'd heard a lot about him: he is a vintage-crooner host with a spine-tinglingly good voice (although all agreed; he reminds us all of the singing sword from 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit' who in turn was inspired by Frank Sinatra, so that's all good really!)

And finally; I've set up a shop on Etsy and had two sales this week already - which has made me a rather happy bunny!

Get Your Skates On!

Well I've been not so cryptic over the last couple of blogs about a new project I'm involved in - and now I can officially announce that I have joined the cast of a fabulous new show...

Oooh yes! So I'm learning to ice skate and this will be my second home for the next couple of months!

At the moment I'm not particularly good, obviously - but I have until November to learn some good stuff and the show is running from the beginning of February so practise will make, if not perfect, at least proficient!

The cast so far is amazing and it's so exciting to be part of such a unique project. I've been to the rink four times this week and hopefully I can keep up a similar momentum!

In other news, I was back at the beautiful Proud Cabaret this weekend with a fabulous line-up

It was a bit of a bonkers night (or 'sausage fest' in the words of Mr. Morose!) as there were a *lot* of stag parties in, which is unusual for a burlesque night, but the whole crowd were lovely and every single act got an amazing response!

It's been a busy week with various things and I'm enjoying my Sunday pyjama day! I'm working on a couple of personal projects and will hopefully have them up and running in the next week or so but for now I'm off to do some off-ice training to get my ankles stronger for ice skating this week!

Showgirl Showtime

Another busy week in showgirl land! I've been to see a couple of shows, performed in a couple of shows and worked on an exciting new show! Woop!

Mat Ricardo's London Varieties

On Wednesday I went to see Mat Ricardo's final London Varieties show, which was great fun. I especially enjoyed 'Ray Guns Look Real Enough' and Heather Holliday, and of course, Mat getting a custard pie in the kisser! Heehee...

Thursday to Saturday I was performing at the beautiful, intimate Privee Lounge in Knightsbridge, singing and dancing, which was fab - here's a couple of snapshots of the various shows...

I was also working on a new project - I can formally announce it in the next few weeks but here's a sneak peek of what I'm up to...

And that's it for now!

Warm and Wet...

Haha - I know it's a massively misleading blog title! I'm not going to apologise though :P

It's been a very busy, very hot week - so, working backwards: Saturday was a truly fabulous day as I travelled up to Leeds for The Wet Spot (see, the blog title *did* have a purpose!)

Cracking line-up!

I had a wonderful time: the line-up was fabulous and included some of my favourite performers and favourite people! The audiences at The Wet Spot are always wonderful and welcoming, and I love performing at this amazing show.

It was also lovely to meet up with some old friends from Leeds and have a long, long overdue catch up. Although my favourite part of the evening was the regular Wet Spot attendees arriving with little knitted doppelgängers in honour of Leggy Pee and Charlie!

Watching Joe Black performing from the wings

Thursday and Friday were also equally busy; I have a little part time job at the gorgeous Dancia International store in Covent Garden, and both nights, after leaving work, I was performing at Privee Knightsbridge. This intimate little supper club is absolutely beautiful and I love performing there for the small but perfectly formed audiences.

Lovely Privee

Also this week I have been working on a couple of secret (for now!) projects that will be announced properly in the next week or so! It's very exciting and marks a few new directions and adds a few new strings to my bow.

Sneak peeks of my new projects...

And that's that for now!

Heat Wave

Well this has been a glorious week! I have been loving this beautiful weather we're having!

A couple of sweltering performances this week: a private party in Surrey and two shows at two of my favourite venues - Proud City and Volupte Lounge!

I actually really like this picture! With Bettsie Bon Bon

The crowd was quite small but absolutely wonderful - helped by a dozen of the staff from Proud Camden rocking up for a party!

After a couple of sweltering days I took myself off to Volupte Lounge for their Saturday afternoon Voluptease - again the audience was small but perfectly formed and gave all the performers such a wonderful reception.

My favourite point of the day was the fact that I was singing, not dancing, so I didn't have to worry about corsets, gloves, boas or pasties! Woop!

Drinking white wine in the sun...

In the evening I was lucky enough to have been given tickets to the ballet! Myself and a couple of friends went to the gorgeous London Coliseum to watch the Moscow Stanislavsky Ballet perform Coppelia: I can't say it was the best production I've ever seen - while I can't fault the incredibly high standard of dancing, and the solos and duets were incredible, I thought there were some very odd, poor choices of choreography for the corps and company scenes. I didn't particularly like some of the costume choices, although the sets were wonderfully epic. The story has been slightly changed and a lot of cuts made to turn the three act ballet into two acts which makes parts of it seem slightly rushed - however, it was a lovely way to pass an evening!
