Countdown to Christmas

True to form, December has been a very busy month!

Still found time to put the Christmas tree up though!

It was strange coming back to Burlesque after such a long time away - I wasn't even sure I'd remember how to do it! I mean, sure, I know how to take my bra off, I still do it most days; but in time to music, one handed, holding a pair of feather fans, while people watch... hmmm...

But, while much has changed (and maybe that's a subject for another blog?), some things haven't changed, and one of those things is how welcoming the cabaret world is. I've had Facebook messages from people welcoming me back, and glitter-covered hugs at backstage reunions; I've reconnected with some of the best people on the planet, and met new (to me) performers who are simply wonderful.

Backstage with Ruby Deshabille and Adama (I'm obviously just happy to be here...) ** Outside Proud Cabaret with some of the best people...

I have to admit I was a bit scared to come back; would anyone remember me? Would I get booked? Will audiences tastes have changed and no one would like me? But I needn't have worried, and now I wonder why I left it so long! I had my reasons for stepping away, and I have my reasons for coming back. But I also had reasons why I dithered for a time while I considered it, and I'm so glad I made the decision.

Back in the land of London Cabaret

So, here's to a fabulous Christmas, a wonderful New Year, and a packed 2018.

Bring on the bubbly wine!

Theatre Week

I've been gallivanting around all week to various theatre shows and it's been fabulous!

I was excited to go and watch The Rocky Horror Picture Show in the glorious surroundings of The Royal Albert Hall, and had a bonkers fun evening!

Ice Skaters at The Natural History Museum on the way home

The next night I had a date night and we went to watch an interesting show called The Card Shark which was like a cross between a magic show, a gambling den and a lecture from a nutty professor!

The Card Shark Show at The Courthouse Hotel

My show this weekend was at the beautiful Proud Cabaret Brighton - it's such a gorgeous venue and the audiences are always lovely so it made up for the hellish journey there and the replacement rail buses on the way home!

I've been having a lovely lazy Sunday relaxing and reading for my university course. I have another exciting week ahead so I'm recharging my batteries in preparation!

What? This is how I recharge!

Phoning It In With Photos

Crikey where does the time go?!

Well I'd better get on it: Kaff Bar has been epic with a couple of new shows including 'Now That's What I Call Cabaret' and 'The Rocky Horror Kaff Bar!'

Oh and Chastity dragged Ronnie up on stage for the finale!

I've been at Proud Cabaret a couple of times as well...

Also this month I've had a couple of nice days/nights out...

Busmans Holiday with Taz Zebrowski to watch Chastity Belt perform in a Cabaret show

Day out at London Zoo! My first visit there! I would have added more photographs but Zebrowski Photography has been very busy recently and not got round to taking them off the camera yet!

Poppies at night at the Tower Of London

And days in as well, obviously.

This was literally the best day ever...

In 'real life' news, work is going well, studies are going well, plans are coming together and I'm rather satisfied right now! It's a wonderful feeling!

Come Rain Or Shine

Another busy couple of weeks! Being a grown-up in real life is hard! Thankfully I have my lovely Cabaret life to even things out...

A few weeks ago a group of us went to the most amazing little spot - a beach in Surrey! It's a man-made lake with a beach next to it and we spent a beautiful day sunbathing, playing in the lake and drinking champagne and cider. Absolute perfection.

Sun worshippers! ** Sand and Cider

Toasting the Beach while toasting on the beach

I have to admit though, it made the next couple of shows rather difficult as I caught the sun more than I expected to...

Ouch!!

However it did lead to the production of one of my favourite ever backstage photos as the team clubbed together to help cover my tan lines using fake tan, foundation, concealer, powder, talc, and whatever else came to hand...

Joe Morose and Chastity Belt *helping*

Shows have been fun and included a couple of private parties alongside the public shows. The problem when I do private events is that I always forget to take pictures, although I did get given cupcakes.

Delicious! I am the sex.

Last week I was lucky enough to be able to go to the London Coliseum again to watch two of the best ballet dancers in the world *not* doing ballet! Natalia Osipova and Ivan Vasiliev have experimented with contemporary dance in 'Solo For Two' and it was wonderful!

Cutain up and curtain call!

In more banal news, I've been playing with my hair now that it's long enough to actually play with and experimenting with braids. It's fun.

Two recent hairstyles

And that's that for now - I'm poorly today so I'm off to hide underneath a hoodie, drink tea and watch Disney movies. It's a patented (by me) cure-all for any sort of sickness. And wine. Wine is also good. But I don't have wine so tea will have to do for now.

Hoodie and Tea. It *is* tea. Honest.
